Centred around the Isle of Portland on England’s south coast, this forecast area is famed for its fierce tidal race and complex currents where the English Channel meets Lyme Bay. The Portland Race is one of the most powerful in Britain — a boiling, shifting clash of tide and swell that has challenged sailors for generations. Beyond the race, calmer waters stretch toward Dorset’s golden cliffs and sheltered harbours.
