Course Overview
The Tide School Sea SUP Course is designed specifically for coastal paddleboarding. Whether you’re a beginner eager to build confidence or an experienced paddler ready to explore new waters, this course gives you the tools, knowledge and Sea Sense to paddle safely and independently along the coast.
Delivered by certified Tide School Coaches, each session combines practical instruction with expert local insight. You’ll learn how to move efficiently on your board, read the sea’s hidden patterns, and plan coastal journeys with confidence. The result is freedom — to paddle anywhere, safely and with respect for the ocean.
Part 1 : Technique
This session focuses on body position, balance and stroke efficiency — the foundation of every good paddleboarder. You’ll learn how to launch safely through small waves, adjust your stance in changing conditions, and use efficient paddling techniques to reduce fatigue and increase control.
Part 2 : Sea Sense
This session teaches you how to read the sea and make safe choices. You’ll learn how tides, waves, streams, and rip currents affect swimmers, practise spotting dangers from shore and in the water, and discover how to plan safe swim windows that work with the elements rather than against them.
Part 3 : Trip Planning
The final session focuses on building safe and confident swimming skills in real sea conditions. You’ll practise controlled entries and exits through waves, adapt your stroke and breathing for chop and currents, and use sighting to stay oriented — giving you the confidence to swim calmly and in control.
